What is SPF

Meaning

SPF - stands for Sun Protection Factor, which is a measure of the level of protection a sunscreen provides against harmful UVB rays from the sun. Higher SPF values offer greater protection, allowing for longer sun exposure without burning. It indicates how long it will take for your skin to burn when using the product compared to not using any sunscreen at all.

What is the difference

The higher the SPF number, the greater the protection it offers:

  • SPF 15 provides moderate protection, blocking about 93% of UVB rays.

  • SPF 30 offers higher protection, blocking around 97% of UVB rays.

  • For those with fair or sensitive skin, SPF 50 is recommended as it provides the highest level of protection, blocking approximately 98% of UVB rays.

What is the different?

SPF is crucial in preventing sunburns, premature aging, and reducing the risk of skin cancer.

It is recommended to use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day, even on cloudy or colder days, as UV rays can still penetrate through clouds and cause damage to the skin.
